Balancing your life…can you really do that?

The critical part of a balance in life is choosing priorities.

“One of the major issues plaguing human potential in the corporate world today is work-life balance. The term itself diminishes our ability to make the case that work can be a richly rewarding part of a person’s life and should in many ways be personal”. Matthew Kelly

Everyone is wondering, what should they do to have a work life balance so that they could lead a life full of satisfaction.

Many of my friends ask me this question very often. No matter what we are discussing, the notion of balance comes up all the time.

I think life balance is a mirage- the closer you try to get ,the further away it goes. It’s better not to aim for it, it will automatically come to you.

At the end of the day, we all are trying to find balance or have a balanced life. But the idea of balance has mistakenly become equal to being able to do it all, have it all and handle it all with a smile on our face.

Between raising our kids, having a career, keeping the house clean, cooking healthy meals, getting our exercise, and finding time to be there for near and dear ones- we start believing that keeping everything from falling apart is balancing our lives. So, it’s obvious that if we are not able to do that, we feel completely unbalanced and frustrated.

Therefore, my question is : Are you able to do it all and feel balanced?

Sadhguru, an Indian yogi and author, reminds us that, “There is no such thing as work-life balance. It is all life. The balance has to be within you.” Creating balance is a choice, it means that no matter what life throws at you, or what you do or don’t get done, you maintain an inner sense of peace – a calm during chaos.

However, Being great at everything and accomplishing it all at once is not just possible. You must differentiate between “must dos” and “needs to do”.

You have to be intentional about being balanced. It’s not going to happen to you. Whether you are a stay-at-home mom, or have a career to balance alongside motherhood, you have your hands full! Creating balance is not about perfection, it’s about building everyday habits that honor your body both physically and mentally.

I would like to give some tips for living a balanced life:

Take care of yourself first

You cannot accomplish anything if you are not healthy. Set aside time each day for an activity you love and enjoy. Allow yourself to unwind after a hectic day by reading, meditating, or taking a nice hot bath.

Know what your priorities are:

Avoid taking so many things in your hands. Not knowing what you want and trying to do so many things at once can be a recipe for disaster instead of leading a well-balanced life. As they say, “do not bite off more than you can chew”.

Efficient mindset:

Always try to plan. Make a to do list for a week and work accordingly to avoid tension. Be sure to allow yourself recreation and quality time for yourself and your family.

Be ready for unexpected:

Things don’t always go according to plans. Rather than getting upset, learn to roll with the punches when things are beyond your control, like your computer crashes or your child could get sick.

I agree that all I said is difficult to follow. But one thing which I am sure about, everyone can do…maintaining a positive mindset!!

Start every day with the intention of making the best and most of it. Life may not go as planned but it can go more smoothly if you put it in perspective. Once you have done everything you can control, let your life unfold. Be prepared about your future but keep worries aside.😊😊
