Today while writing this blog, I asked myself,” Really, Anita, there are no bad and good personalities, or I am just mistaken?”Labelling someone with a tag of a bad person or a good person is not at all justified. The reality is this approach is not very effective either.

The person who has a different point of view should he be named as a bad person? On the other side if a person matches our criteria of a good person is he actually a good person? It happens with all of us in our day-to-day life that if someone finds us more like them, they label us as good otherwise we are bad.

Humans are genetically selfish and focused only on their individual survival. Our nature is to be bad people not good. SIGMAN FREUD wrote in “THE NATURE OF THE MAN “that humans aim is to satisfy the needs of self-preservation, aggression, need of love, and the impulse to attain pleasure and avoid pain.”

But while we can be good or bad by nature one researcher, Archer Keltner, a professor at UC Berkeley, argues that we are both good and bad.60% of the time we are motivated by the personal gratification to survive, but the other 40% of the time, we are acting generous and helping others.

We learn this way of assessing people in our childhood. If our parents viewed other people as good or bad, we assume we also should categorize people in that way. If our parents treated us as if we were one way or the other, we likely ended up thinking the same about us.

To put someone to the extreme spectrum is not justified. Do we want to be judged as good or bad? I don’t. The reason is if people see me as a “good” person, that means I can’t ever make any mistake or fail because that automatically makes me “bad”. And vice versa. If they see me as a” bad “person, that means all of my positive traits do count for nothing.

All of us are a combination of pluses and minuses. Someone can be a good employee but a very irresponsible husband or father. All of us can be very good on some fronts of our life and equally bad on the other fronts. No one can be all good or all bad. If we call someone all good, it will be only for GOD.

So, we can never brush across our lives as all good or all bad people. We are just people. We are a combination of both.

We are not good or bad, WE ARE JUST COMPLICATED.😃
