TOOTA PATTA / Broken leaf

Kal tak tha ik shakh pe,

Aj jameen pe gira hun,

Uper dekhta hun hasrat bhari nigahon se, 

Mere sathi mera pariwar to vahin hai,

             Kyun mujhe hawa ka ek jhonka,

              Itna kamjor kar gaya,

              Kahan se itny himmat de gaya,

              Jameen per pada hun akela

Uper dekhta hua,

Peela padta hua,

            Akhir sookh hi gaya,

            Kabhi yahan kabhi vahan udta raha,

            Shakh se wapis judne ki raah takta hua,

           Sach jaan ker bhi nasamajh banta hua.

Aye bande, jara dhyan se pair rakhna mujh per

Sukha hun lekin main hun abhi kuch jinda,

Dard hoga to churmuraunga tere pair tale,

Ek aur mout ho jaegy is asmaan ke tale.

Was on this branch till yesterday,

Fell on the ground today,

I look up with eager eyes,

My friends my family is still there,

Why a gust of wind,

Made me so weak,

Where did I get so much courage,

Lying on the ground alone,

Looking up,

Turning yellow,

I have dried at last,

Flying here and there,

Looking for a way to reconnect with my branch,

Foolishly thinking this after knowing the truth,

O man, please pay attention to me,

I am dry but I’m still alive,

If there is pain, I will cry under your feet,

There will be another death under this sky.
