Ten Famous Temples Of Lord Hanuman You Must Visit # 3

Hanuman Dhoka Temple

Hanuman Dhoka is a complex of structures with the Royal Palace of the Malla kings and also of the Shah dynasty in the Durbar Square of central Kathmandu, Nepal.

It is spread over five acres. The Hanuman Dhoka Palace gets its name from the stone image of Hanuman, the Hindu deity, that sits near the main entryway.

A huge, orange vermillion coated Hanuman statue lies at the entrance of Kathmandu’s royal palace. The idol is cloaked in red and sheltered by an umbrella. The statue is believed to have been built in 1672. But the Hanuman’s face had somewhat disappeared over years of vermillion applied by the devotees.

It was originally founded during the Licchavi period (4th to 8th centuries AD), but the compound was expanded considerably by King Pratap Malla in the 17th century. Sadly, the sprawling palace was hit hard by the 2015 earthquake and damage was extensive.
