10 Famous Temples Dedicated To Lord Vishnu And His Avatars # 3

Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple, Trivandrum

The Padmanabhaswamy temple is a Hindu temple located in Thiruvananthapuram, the state capital of Kerala, India. The name of the city of Thiruvananthapuram in Malayalam translates to “The City of Lord Ananta”, referring to the deity of the Padmanabhaswamy temple.

Padmanabhaswamy Temple of Trivandrum is the oldest and famous shrines in Kerala and the richest Hindu temple in the world. The temple along with Adikesava Perumal Temple at Kanyakumari and Ananthapuram Temple in Kasargod are holy sites of Hindu Vaishnavism in South India.

The temple is often in the news over the secret and mysterious vault named B or traditionally known as Nilavaras or Kallara. It so happened that a retired IPS officer Sundarajan filed a petition in the Supreme Court in 2011 to take stock of the temple’s unaccounted treasury.
